Healing Guide For Areola & Breast Scar Repigmentation
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe exceptional results begin long before the procedure and continue well beyond it. Every treatment is individualized, and every client deserves to feel informed, supported, respected, and cared for throughout the healing journey. Education is an essential part of achieving beautiful, lasting results.
A Personal Welcome
Thank you for choosing Newport Permanent Makeup.
Whether your procedure is cosmetic or restorative, I consider it a privilege to be part of your journey. Every treatment I perform is customized to the individual sitting in front of me, and I never lose sight of the trust my clients place in my hands.
Over the past 27 years, I have learned that beautiful results come from more than technical skill. They come from careful planning, meticulous technique, thoughtful aftercare, and a partnership between artist and client.
This guide brings together the knowledge and experience I have gained over nearly three decades of practice, along with the same guidance I share with my clients every day. Please remember that every person heals differently. If you ever have a question or simply need reassurance, I encourage you to call or text. I am always happy to help.
With gratitude,
Debbie Miller

Why Aftercare Matters
Your procedure is only the first step. The way your skin heals over the next days and weeks plays an important role in your comfort, skin integrity, pigment retention (when applicable), and your final result. Please follow these instructions carefully and contact me if you are unsure about anything during the healing process.

AREOLA & BREAST SCAR REPIGMENTATION
🩹 BANDAGE CARE
• Leave the first Saniderm® bandage on for 8–24 hours.
• Showering is permitted while wearing Saniderm, but avoid direct shower spray to the treated area and avoid long, hot, steamy showers.
• Replace earlier if excessive fluid collects or the edges loosen.
• Remove the first bandage within 24 hours, wash gently with Cetaphil®, apply a thin layer of Areola Balm, and apply a new Saniderm.
• Wear the second Saniderm up to 5 days. Do not wear Saniderm longer than 7 days total.
• If fluid continues to collect under the second bandage, switch to a Telfa® non-stick dressing.
• If you develop redness only around the adhesive border, discontinue Saniderm and use Telfa dressings.
💧 OINTMENT & CLEANING
• Apply Areola Balm only when changing Saniderm.
• If using Telfa dressings, apply a thin layer twice daily after washing for about 7 days.
• Wash gently with mild soap and warm water beginning after the first 24 hours.
• Pat dry. Avoid direct shower spray on the area for 7 days.
• Ointment may be used to hydrate the area for several weeks if the skin remains dry or flaky.
👕 PROTECT THE AREA
• Wear loose clothing whenever possible.
• Cover the area with Saniderm or Telfa if wearing a bra or fitted clothing.
• Use clean bed linens during the first several days.
! AVOID
• Picking or scratching.
• Hot tubs, pools, ocean, steam rooms, or long hot showers for 10 days.
• Heavy exercise or sweating for 1 week (longer if radiated skin).
• Gardening, dirty environments, pets, and unnecessary contact with the treatment area.
♥ NORMAL HEALING
• Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, clear drainage, and light flaking are normal.
⚠ CALL ME, BUT SEEK MEDICAL CARE IMMEDIATELY IF YOU HAVE
• Increasing redness or swelling
• Red streaks
• Pus or foul drainage
• Fever or chills
Special Note
If you have had radiation therapy, healing may take two weeks or longer. Healing results vary depending on skin type, scar tissue, and surgical history. Minor touch-ups are common and will be discussed at your follow-up visit.
